Is sherbet better for you than ice cream?

That is a confusing question to answer. It contains less protein and calcium. It definitely has less fat and calories than ice cream. It becomes a matter of taste. If you want a richer flavor, choose ice cream. If you want cold, refreshing and healthier, choose sherbet.

What is the difference between sherbet and sorbet?

The main difference is that sherbet does contain dairy, Sorbet is just fruit juice or puree.

What should the taste and texture of sherbet be?

Orange sherbet should be light and refreshing. There will also be some tartness to it.

Do I need an ice cream maker for sherbet?

Actually no, if you follow the recipe, you need simply a blender.

Should I use fresh or frozen juice?

You can use either one. This depends on how soon you want to eat it. This recipe is actually very simple to make. As it contains sweetened condensed milk and orange soda.

How should I store homemade Orange Sherbet?

When you have the orange sherbet made, you should put it in an airtight container and then place it into the freezer.

Ingredients:

  • Sweetened condensed milk
  • Orange soda

How to Make Homemade Orange Sherbet

Step 1. Mix together the orange soda and the sweetened condensed milk in a bowl.

Step 2. If using an ice cream maker, place the ingredients into the maker, and start churning. Churn for an hour, layer the mixture into a loaf pan or bowl, and freeze for 6-8 hours until completely frozen. 

Step 3. If you do not have an ice cream machine, place the mixture directly into a loaf pan or bowl, and freeze for 1 hour. 

Step 4. Remove the container and stir the mixture after 1 hour,  then return to the freezer. 

Step 5. Continue to remove the container and mix the ingredients every 2 hours until the sherbert is completely frozen. This will take 6-8 hours in total.
